Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian sits along the border of Pacific Coast highway and is one of the most prestigious hospitals in Orange County. With a multitude of research centers including Hoag Cancer Center, Hoag Heart and Vascular Institute, Hoag Neuroscience Institute, Hoag Orthopedic Services and Hoag Women´s Health Services.The hospital was built in 1952 the same year that flying saucers were seen over Newport Beach. Since that time Hoag has seen remarkable reconstruction and additions to the site. It has received many awards and recognitions.
Education in the Newport Coast is part of the Newport Mesa Unified School District. College anyone? Orange Coast College is a mere 5 miles away in Costa Mesa and at present there enrollment is upwards of 13,224. Orange Coast has the highest transfer rate to California State University of Fullerton which is also about 5 miles from the Newport Coast. University of California Irvine is about a 20 minute ride from the Newport Coast as well. So you see, living in Newport Coast is not just about your home, but your location! The sandy beaches, the access to freeways, shopping and schools are also considered among the best in Orange County.
The Newport Coast is surrounded by many distinguished shopping centers such as Newport Coast Shopping Center which is a 10 acre retail center with a variety of shops, and restaurants. South Coast Plaza and Fashion Island are also within close proximity to your home in Newport Coast.
As we have stated previously the John Wayne Airport is about 30 minutes away. But locally transportation is fun. Try the The O. C. Cruiser which is considered the best of Newport. Frequent service with three routes allow easy and convenient connections between hotels , Newport Pier, Balboa Pier, Corona Del Mar, and local shopping areas. The O.C. Cruiser (pictured) also tours around famous landmarks and hot spots in the vicinity. They also have a pretty wild website! For more serious riders the OCTA has routes all through Newport Beach. They have an excellent website which will give you all the latest stops to plan your trip.
New Homes are being constructed presently at the Pelican Hill Resort owned by the The Irvine Company, has been in the planning since the early 1970´s. The 115 acre destination golf resort is located on Pelican Hill Road which is next to the Pelican Hill Golf Club. It will include three main components, a hotel, a new gold clubhouse and a residence club with 128 private villas in two gated communities. Although the Golf Club is presently closed due to construction, you can visit their website to keep updated on what is happening and when.
The Marriott has something new in store for it's guest. Expect to see heavy construction until 2009. They are building the Marriott's Newport Coast Villas, with perfect views of the coast, and luxory at your fingertips.
