First, a little history. Early in the 1800's Costa Mesa, then known as Fairview, then Harper was very nearly the Lima Bean capital. Quickly travelers found what a wonderful rich place this was to build a strong community and a contest was held in 1920 and the city was forever named Costa Mesa, which means "Coastal Tableland". When World War II broke out, part of what is now Costa Mesa's Civic Center was an Army base. After the war, the families decided to stay and quickly developed housing tracts and subdivisions. With its southern most border exactly one mile to the Pacific Ocean, it has all the beautiful weather the beach towns boast of.

Costa Mesa is also known as the "City of the Arts" as it has a grand Performing Arts Center located in the heart of the highly sought after South Coast Metro Area. Here you can see famous broadway plays, concerts, and other attractions.

Also in the South Coast Metro Real Estate area is the Orange County Fair & Exposition Center. Acres of land that annually has the Orange County Fair as well as numerous other events from Motorcycle Racing to 4H contests. You can even book your own event! Every Saturday and Sunday they have a huge Outdoor Swap Meet where you can find everything and anything.

This city is also home to Orange Coast Community College - A 2 year college, very popular to attend on your way to a 4 year College.

Home to South Coast Plaza with over 322 stores, everything you can imagine and then some! From high end stores like Macy's to childrens toys such as Toys R Us.

Another big attraction is the John Wayne Airport located at the edge of town in Santa Ana, which is not far from Fountain Valley and very convient to fly into if your stopping by the Fair or on your way to Disneyland.

South Coast Metro Real Estate has it all. The city itself is home to 26 public and private schools The public schools are part of the Newport-Mesa Unified School District.

Close to the South Coast Metro Area and South Coast Plaza is a beautiful high rise business district. Corporate headquarters for Wyndham Hotels, FileNet, Rockwell International, Masco Computerized Security System just to name a few.
